Metabolic measurements and body composition

Body composition of mice and rats are measured by EchoMRI, where the lean body mass, the fat- and water content of the animals are determined in awake subjects.

Food and water consumption, locomotor activity and CO2 production of the animals are continuously measured in the TSE Phenomaster complex at the Metabolic Core Facility. Energy expenditure and respiratory exchange ratio are calculated.
